Researchers are utilizing various techniques, including cryo-electron tomography and cryo-FIBSEM, to study the molecular anatomy of whole organisms at a high level of detail. These methods, such as serialized on-grid lift-in sectioning for tomography, are being applied to different areas of research, including the study of extracellular matrix, protozoan parasites, and plant cell walls. The use of these techniques is enabling new insights into the ultrastructural landscape of various biological systems.
