Phytochemicals from a specific variety of grape, Vitis vinifera L. var. King Ruby, have been found to protect mice from lung injury caused by benzo(a)pyrene. The phytochemicals appear to have a beneficial effect in this context. This finding suggests a potential protective role for these compounds against certain types of lung damage.
