Research is being conducted on the interactions between galectin-1 and glycans, including how pre-B cell receptor binding affects these interactions. The study of galectin-glycan interactions may have implications for understanding B cell immunity and potentially for therapeutic targeting in diseases such as cancer and B-cell leukaemias. The role of galectins in various biological processes, including cell adhesion and immunoregulation, is also being explored.
