A secondary analysis of population-based surveys from 53 low-income and middle-income countries has examined the prevalence and changes of intimate partner violence against women aged 15 to 49 years from 2000 to 2021. The analysis suggests that intimate partner violence may be decreasing in some areas, with declining global acceptability of such violence potentially tied to declining prevalence. However, the issue remains widespread, with estimates indicating that a significant proportion of women have experienced violence, although the exact number and extent of the problem are not uniformly reported.
