A review has found that the Metropolitan Police failed to properly vet some officers, resulting in serial rapists being among its ranks. It is reported that at least two serial rapists were able to join the force due to these vetting failures, with one of them being identified as David Carrick. The extent of the issue is still unclear, with reports suggesting that thousands of recruits may not have been properly vetted, and over 130 officers and staff being involved in crimes or misconduct.
