Research suggests that treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder with dorsomedial prefrontal repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation may be accompanied by reductions in cortico-striatal hyperconnectivity. The effectiveness of various treatments, including repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and other forms of brain stimulation, for obsessive-compulsive disorder is being explored. Studies are investigating the underlying neural mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for the disorder, with some research also examining the use of other treatments, such as psilocybin and psychedelic mushroom extract.
