Research suggests that weather features play a role in the variability of free-tropospheric baroclinicity in the North Atlantic storm track. The seasonal predictability of baroclinic wave activity is also being studied. Additionally, there may be a distant influence of certain ocean eddies on weather patterns, although it is unclear if this is related to the North Atlantic or North Pacific.
