West Nile virus has been confirmed in mosquitos and horses in Montana. The virus appears to have been detected in multiple counties, including Lewis and Clark, Cascade, and Yellowstone, although the extent of its presence throughout the state is unclear. Some cases have resulted in hospitalization, with at least four reported in Yellowstone County.
