Research also suggests that certain factors, such as chronic gut inflammation and possibly ultra-processed foods, may contribute to this risk. Additionally, some studies indicate that colon cancer risk may be higher in specific groups, including young people and possibly long-distance runners, although the findings are not yet definitive.
