Top US and Chinese diplomats have met in Manila, reportedly ahead of an expected visit by the Chinese leader to Washington. The meeting comes as diplomats from ASEAN have also gathered to express concern over hostilities in the Middle East. Other diplomatic meetings are taking place, including between Turkish and Russian counterparts, although it is unclear if these are directly related to the US-China talks.
