A new resource, the Neurolipid Atlas, has been developed to study lipidomics in relation to neurodegenerative diseases. Research related to this atlas suggests that lipid dysregulation may play a role in the early stages of neurodegeneration, and that certain lipids, such as polyunsaturated fatty acids, may have protective effects in certain diseases. The atlas appears to be part of a broader effort to understand the lipidome of the human brain and its connection to various neurological conditions.
