Research on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has led to various findings, including the potential risks and benefits of certain medications and the presence of unique gene activity in ADHD brains. Studies also suggest that brain development may continue beyond what was previously thought, potentially into the 30s. Additionally, there appears to be a gap in treatment for teens and young adults with ADHD and substance use disorder, amid ongoing efforts to better understand the condition.
