The FBI and Google have taken down a botnet, reportedly known as NetNut, that had hijacked a large number of devices, with estimates suggesting around 2 million smart TVs and other home devices were affected. The botnet was used by cyber threat actors and rented out infected devices to malicious parties. However, there is some uncertainty about the scope of the operation, with one report suggesting a much larger botnet of 17 million devices was involved, although it is unclear if this is related to the same case.
