A new technology using microscopic bubbles is being developed to treat cancer. The treatment, which may also have applications for heart disease, uses sound waves, such as ultrasound, to destroy cancer cells from the inside out, potentially allowing for surgery-free treatment of tumors. The technology is being researched and tested by various institutions, with some already beginning to treat patients, including those with liver cancer.
