Research is being conducted to understand the relationship between migraines and brain lesions that appear on MRI scans. There appears to be a connection between migraines and certain changes in the brain, including white matter hyperintensities, which may be misdiagnosed as multiple sclerosis. Studies are working to advance understanding of migraine pathophysiology and its effects on the brain.
