Vietnam and the Philippines have been elevated to upper-middle income status. The reclassification is reportedly from the World Bank, which may also have upgraded other countries, including possibly Sri Lanka, although reports on the latter are not consistent. The new status is said to bring new development challenges for the affected countries.
