The XCath Endovascular Robotic System has successfully performed its first-in-human brain aneurysm procedures. The system, which is also referred to as the Iris robotic platform, may have the capability to perform telerobotic neurosurgery, with one report indicating a procedure was done on a stroke patient from a distance of 120 miles. The company behind the system has reportedly secured $30 million in funding to expand its robotic treatment for brain aneurysms and stroke.
