A painting by Raja Ravi Varma has set a new record for indian art at auction. The painting, titled "Yashoda and Krishna", was sold for $17.9 million, or approximately ₹167.2 crore. It was purchased by the founder of the Serum Institute, reportedly Cyrus Poonawalla, although the buyer is also described as a "vaccine billionaire".
