Researchers have developed a method for 3D particle manipulation in droplets using acoustofluidics, which enables contactless and programmable liquid handling. This technology has various applications, including nanoparticle enrichment and separation, as well as high-speed morphological phenotyping of zebrafish larvae. The use of acoustic streaming vortices and surface acoustic wave microfluidic devices also allows for digital control of droplets.
