Researchers are exploring augmentation strategies for treating major depressive disorder (MDD), particularly in cases where patients have not responded adequately to initial treatment. Various approaches, including switching therapists, antidepressant augmentation, and adjunctive therapies such as antipsychotics, are being studied for their effectiveness. The relative benefits of these different strategies for treatment-resistant depression are being investigated through reviews and analyses of clinical trials.
