Drones are being used to deliver life-saving defibrillators, also known as automated external defibrillators (AEDs), in response to 911 calls. The service is being implemented in certain areas, including parts of North Carolina, as part of a study or program aimed at reducing cardiac arrest response times. It appears to be a first-of-its-kind effort in the US, although a similar service has also been launched in France.
