Research suggests that fdg pet/ct scans may be useful in predicting survival in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. The scans appear to have a role in staging, assessing response to treatment, and follow-up care for this type of cancer. Additionally, they may be linked to brain metabolism and immune response, although their application in this context is still being explored.
