The interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS has been found to be extremely old, with estimates suggesting it is at least over 9 billion years old, and possibly as old as 12 billion years. This would make it older than the sun, and its star system may no longer exist. The comet is currently leaving the solar system, having passed close to earth, and has been the subject of scientific study, including scans for potential alien technology.
