A mars rover has identified more than 20 organic molecules on the planet, including some that are considered building blocks of life. These molecules were found in a rock from Gale Crater, with some discoveries being reported for the first time. The findings suggest that mars can preserve ancient biosignatures, although the origin of the molecules is not certain.
