A generic version of esbriet, used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, has been launched by Sandoz. The launch may improve access to the medication for patients, although it is unclear if other companies, such as Lupin, have also received approval for their own generic versions. The introduction of generics may have implications for the original medication and other related drugs.
