Research is being conducted on the potential distribution of certain causal agents of oak charcoal disease in Iran's Zagros forests. Abiotic factors are also being studied in relation to oak forest decline in western Iran. However, it is unclear how these findings may relate to broader environmental issues, such as desertification and climate change, which are being monitored in other regions, including northern China.
