The moon is reported to always face the earth in the same way, with only one side visible from the planet. This phenomenon is attributed to a process known as tidal locking. The far side of the moon, sometimes mistakenly referred to as the dark side, is an area that is not visible from earth, but is expected to be observed by the Artemis II crew.
