A study has found that lung transplants can improve survival for patients with terminal lung cancer. The procedure appears to extend survival for certain patients, including those with stage 4 lung cancer that hasn't spread, although the extent of the benefit for those with metastatic lung cancer is less clear. Lung transplants are being performed, including with robotic assistance, and have given some patients with life-threatening diagnoses a second chance at life.
