An interstellar visitor, referred to as comet 3I/ATLAS, is reported to be approaching or leaving the solar system, with its closest approach to earth apparently having occurred. The object is visible from ground-based telescopes, at least for a little while longer. Observations of the comet are planned, with some outlets mentioning missions to observe it near mars and jupiter, while others note a separate, unrelated structure has been discovered in the outer solar system.
