Inaugural Index of Services Production released
The government released its inaugural Index of Services Production, which measures 19 sub-sectors accounting for about 60% of India's services sector. According to the new index, 14 service sectors grew in double digits in April 2026, offering the first official high-frequency gauge of services output — the largest part of the Indian economy.
