RBI to issue polymer currency notes from beginning of next fiscal: Governor Sanjay Malhotra
Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra said the central bank aims to begin issuing polymer (plastic) currency notes from the beginning of the next financial year. He stressed that the project is still at a pilot stage, and that the RBI will test how the polymer notes perform under Indian conditions, climate and existing infrastructure before any full rollout.
