The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹23,371 crore GOBARdhan scheme to fuel growth of the compressed biogas (CBG) sector. The scheme aims to raise domestic CBG production roughly ten-fold and to mobilise large-scale private investment. By converting organic and agricultural waste into biogas, it supports waste-to-energy goals, cleaner fuel, and additional rural income while reducing dependence on imported fuels.
