Scientists at ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (ICAR-NIHSAD), Bhopal, have developed an indigenous vaccine against African swine fever. The vaccine uses a novel attenuated ASFV Genotype II virus. African swine fever is a highly contagious and often fatal viral disease of pigs, and a home-grown vaccine can help protect the piggery sector and reduce losses from recurring outbreaks.
