India, Mercosur begin talks to expand preferential trade pact
India and the Mercosur bloc announced the start of negotiations to expand their Preferential Trade Agreement. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Uruguay's Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, whose country holds Mercosur's pro-tempore presidency, made the announcement. Separately, both sides signed the first Additional Protocol to facilitate electronic certificates of origin. The PTA was originally signed on January 25, 2004 and entered into force on June 1, 2009.
