The Ministry of Electronics and IT, through Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, launched Semicon 2.0 to build a complete domestic semiconductor ecosystem spanning design, equipment, fabs, advanced packaging, R&D and talent. Unveiled during Semicon India 2026, the phase has drawn investment proposals of about Rs 1 lakh crore and is expected to create roughly 1 lakh jobs while training 1 lakh technicians.
