At least six gunshots were heard while the Republican candidate was onstage, including several as he stood behind the podium and after he appeared to crouch behind the podium after the initial explosion.
Video showed Trump with his fist raised after the shooting and being escorted out of the venue by Secret Service agents.
The footage also shows some of the crowd scattering after the first shot, with people crouching in the stands and others filming the melee on their cellphones.
The gunman was shot and killed by a Secret Service agent, authorities said, and the Secret Service said one spectator was killed and two others were “seriously injured.”
The former president released a statement shortly after the shooting.
“A bullet went through the top of my right ear,” Trump wrote. “I heard the whoosh, felt the bullet cut through my skin and immediately knew something was wrong.”
