The Union Cabinet has approved ₹84,084 crore for 'Samudra Manthan', an offshore exploration scheme. Of the total, ₹43,200 crore has been earmarked for drilling 60 deepwater exploration wells. The large central outlay signals a major push for offshore and deepwater exploration in India, with the bulk of near-term spending directed at new well drilling.

The Centre has extended the PM-Kisan scheme for four more years, with an allocation of ₹3.15 lakh crore. The government said it has already transferred more than ₹4.47 lakh crore directly into farmers' bank accounts through 23 instalments since the scheme was launched in February 2019, continuing direct income support to eligible farmers.

The Lok Sabha has passed the MSME Development (Amendment) Bill without debate. The Bill seeks to address challenges currently faced by the micro, small and medium enterprises sector by improving its administrative structure and facilitating payment mechanisms, updating the existing MSME development framework to strengthen support for the sector.

The government has approved the introduction of one billion polymer banknotes in the ₹10 and ₹20 denominations. According to the government, the Reserve Bank of India has informed that the procurement process is presently at an initial stage. The move introduces polymer as the material for these lower-denomination banknotes.
