One-year accident insurance for bank or post office account holders aged 18–70: ₹2 lakh for accidental death or full disability, ₹1 lakh for partial disability. The premium is ₹20 a year, auto-debited from your account.

What you get
- ₹2 lakh on accidental death.
- ₹2 lakh for total and permanent loss of both eyes, both hands or feet, or one eye plus one hand or foot.
- ₹1 lakh for total and permanent loss of sight of one eye or use of one hand or foot.
- Premium: ₹20 a year (1 June to 31 May), auto-debited in one go.
- Cover is in addition to any other insurance you have.
- Not covered: suicide; hospital expenses are not reimbursed.
Who can apply
- Individual bank or post office account holders aged 18 to 70 (age nearer birthday) can join.
- Joint account holders can each join if they meet the conditions.
- NRIs with an eligible bank account at a branch in India can join (claims paid in Indian rupees).
- You can join through only one account.
Who cannot apply
- Cover ends on reaching age 70 (age nearest birthday).
- Institutional (non-individual) account holders are not eligible.
- Cover lapses if the account is closed or lacks balance for the premium.
Documents usually needed
- Bank or post office savings account (Aadhaar is the primary KYC for the account)
- PMSBY enrolment form / auto-debit authorisation
How to apply
- Go to your bank branch or post office, or enrol online through the Jan Suraksha portal.
- Fill in the enrolment and auto-debit form.
- Keep enough balance for the ₹20 premium; if it is debited after 1 June, cover starts from the debit date.
