Kisan Credit Card Scheme
A bank credit card and loan limit for farmers, tenant farmers, sharecroppers, and livestock and fish farmers, used to pay for crops and farm needs. Short-term loans up to ₹3 lakh carry 7% interest, which drops to 4% if you repay on time.

What you get
- Short-term farm loans up to ₹3 lakh at 7% interest a year.
- Repay on time and you get up to 3% back, so the effective interest rate is 4%.
- Loans up to ₹2 lakh without collateral (in force from 1 January 2025).
- For loans only for animal husbandry or fisheries, the interest benefit applies up to ₹2 lakh.
- A RuPay card with one-time paperwork; you can withdraw any number of times within your limit.
- Credit for seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other crop costs, and for allied activities such as dairy and fisheries.
- Revolving credit valid for up to 5 years.
- Marginal farmers can get a flexible limit of ₹10,000 to ₹50,000.
Who can apply
- Individual farmers and joint borrowers who own and cultivate land.
- Tenant farmers, oral lessees and sharecroppers.
- Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) of farmers, including groups of tenant farmers and sharecroppers.
- Farmers in animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries (for working capital).
Documents usually needed
- Copy of land records.
- Details of the crops you grow or have sown.
How to apply
- Get the one-page KCC application form from any Scheduled Commercial Bank's website, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare website, or the PM-KISAN portal (pmkisan.gov.in, "Download KCC Form").
- If you get PM-KISAN, your basic details are taken from the bank's PM-KISAN records.
- Fill in your land record and crop details and submit the form at your bank branch.
- A Common Service Centre (CSC) can help fill the form and send it to the bank online.
