Farmer families who own cultivable land get ₹6,000 a year from the Central Government, paid in three instalments of ₹2,000 straight into their Aadhaar-seeded bank account.

What you get
- ₹6,000 a year per eligible farmer family.
- Paid in three instalments of ₹2,000 each, one every four months (April–July, August–November, December–March).
- Money is sent directly to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account (Direct Benefit Transfer).
Who can apply
- Farmer families that own cultivable land, with their names in the state or UT land records.
- "Family" means husband, wife and minor children. The benefit is for the family, not for each member.
- There is no upper limit on land size.
- Land in urban areas also counts if it is actually being cultivated.
- Land ownership is judged as on 1 February 2019. People who bought or were gifted land after that date are not eligible; land inherited on the death of the owner is an exception.
- Your bank account must be linked to Aadhaar and you must complete e-KYC.
- For new registrations, a Farmer ID is required in the 19 states where the farmer registry has started (latest figure, March 2026).
Who cannot apply
- Institutional landholders.
- Families where any member holds or has held a constitutional post.
- Families where any member is or was a Union/State Minister, MP, MLA, MLC, Mayor of a Municipal Corporation, or Chairperson of a District Panchayat.
- Families where any member is a serving or retired officer or employee of Central/State Government, PSUs, government autonomous bodies, or a regular employee of a local body (Multi Tasking Staff, Class IV and Group D employees are not excluded).
- Retired pensioners with a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more (Multi Tasking Staff, Class IV and Group D are not excluded).
- Anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year.
- Registered, practising doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects.
- Non-resident Indians (NRIs), for new beneficiaries.
- People who cultivate land that is not in their own name, such as tenant farmers.
- Agricultural land being used for non-agricultural purposes.
Documents usually needed
- Aadhaar number.
- Bank account number and IFSC code.
- Land record details showing the land in your name.
- Self-declaration of eligibility.
- Farmer ID, in states where it is mandatory for new registration.
How to apply
- Register through "New Farmer Registration" on pmkisan.gov.in, the PM-KISAN mobile app, or a Common Service Centre (CSC).
- You can also apply through your village Patwari, revenue officials or other officers designated by the state.
- The state government checks your eligibility and uploads your details; payment starts after verification.
- Complete e-KYC; biometric e-KYC is available at CSCs and in the PM-KISAN mobile app.
- Check your payment status on "Know Your Status" on pmkisan.gov.in.
