What you get

• Assistance of ₹1.20 lakh per house in plain areas.
• Assistance of ₹1.30 lakh per house in North-Eastern States and the hill States/UTs of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
• Separate support of ₹12,000 for building a toilet, through Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin or another source.
• Minimum house size of 25 sq m, including a dedicated area for hygienic cooking.
• Money is paid directly into the beneficiary's bank or post office account.

Who can apply

• Rural households with no shelter (houseless).
• Rural households living in kutcha houses: kutcha walls and kutcha roof, or zero, one or two rooms.
• Automatically included: destitute households or those living on alms, manual scavengers, primitive tribal groups, and legally released bonded labourers.
• Beneficiaries come from the SECC 2011 and Awaas+ lists and a new Awaas+ 2024 survey, and are verified by the Gram Sabha.

Who cannot apply

• Households living in a house with a pucca roof and/or pucca walls, or with more than 2 rooms.
• Households owning a motorised three- or four-wheeler.
• Households owning mechanised three- or four-wheeler agricultural equipment.
• Households with a Kisan Credit Card with a credit limit of ₹50,000 or more.
• Households with any member who is a government employee.
• Households with a non-agricultural enterprise registered with the government.
• Households where any member earns more than ₹15,000 a month.
• Households paying income tax or professional tax.
• Households owning 2.5 acres or more of irrigated land, or 5 acres or more of unirrigated land.
• The UTs of Delhi, Chandigarh and Puducherry do not implement PMAY-G.

Documents usually needed

• Aadhaar: the Awaas+ 2024 survey uses Aadhaar-based e-KYC with face authentication.
• A bank or post office account to receive the money.

How to apply

1. States/UTs are running a new survey through the Awaas+ 2024 mobile app to find eligible households; surveys are done by pre-registered surveyors.
2. Eligible households can also use the 'Self-Survey' option in the Awaas+ 2024 app.
3. The list of beneficiaries is verified by the Gram Sabha before houses are sanctioned.
