What you get

• Deposit-free LPG connection: the government pays ₹2,050 for a 14.2 kg cylinder connection (₹1,300 for a 5 kg cylinder), covering the cylinder deposit, regulator, hose, consumer card and installation.
• First refill and a stove (hotplate) free of cost.
• Nothing to pay the distributor for the connection, first refill or stove (any state stamp fee is extra).
• Choice of a 14.2 kg single cylinder, a 5 kg single cylinder or a 5 kg double-cylinder connection.
• Targeted subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder (pro-rated for 5 kg), credited to your bank account.
• How many subsidised refills a year: official sources differ. The Cabinet approved up to 9 refills a year for FY 2025-26; a PIB release of 7 June 2026 says ₹300 on the first four refills each year. Check with your LPG distributor.

Who can apply

• The applicant must be a woman aged 18 or above.
• She must belong to a poor household, shown by submitting a deprivation declaration in the prescribed format.
• No one in the household should already have an LPG connection from any oil marketing company.
• Migrant families can apply using a self-declaration for address and family details.

Who cannot apply

• Men cannot apply; a household with no adult woman cannot get a PMUY connection.
• Households where any member earns more than ₹10,000 a month.
• Households paying income tax or professional tax.
• Households with a member who is a government employee.
• Households with a non-agricultural enterprise registered with the government.
• Households with a Kisan Credit Card with a credit limit over ₹50,000.
• Households owning more than 2.5 acres of irrigated land with one irrigation equipment, 5 acres or more of irrigated land for two or more crop seasons, or at least 7.5 acres of land with at least one irrigation equipment.
• Households owning a house of more than 30 sq m carpet area (other than one received under a government scheme).
• Households owning a motorised 3/4-wheeler, fishing boat, or mechanised 3/4-wheeler farm equipment.
• Households that already have an LPG connection, or a PNG (piped gas) connection.

Documents usually needed

• KYC application form with a recent photograph and signature.
• Aadhaar of the applicant and of all adult family members.
• Proof of address, only if the current address differs from Aadhaar (migrants can give a self-declaration).
• Ration card, or another State/Central government document showing family composition (migrants can give a self-declaration).
• Bank account details (passbook copy or cancelled cheque).
• Deprivation declaration in the standard format.

How to apply

1. Apply online at pmuy.gov.in, or through a Common Service Centre (CSC). Self-submission is free; CSCs charge ₹20.
2. Or submit the application directly at any LPG distributor of your choice.
3. The distributor carries out biometric Aadhaar authentication (eKYC) and a pre-installation inspection at your home.

5. New connections are released against a fixed target: as of 23 September 2026, 24,42,525 connections had been released under the latest 25 lakh extension.
